The festive shopping season is here, and if you are planning to buy an affordable 5G smartphone without spending too much, HMD has added a fresh option to its Vibe2 lineup.

The HMD Vibe2 5G has received a new Wine Red colour variant in India, giving the budget smartphone a more festive look just in time for the upcoming Flipkart Big Billion Days sale. The new colour does not bring any hardware changes, but the phone continues to offer features such as a 6000mAh battery, 120Hz display and Android 16.

According to HMD’s promotional announcement reported by multiple publications, the Wine Red variant will be available during the Flipkart Big Billion Days sale with an effective starting price of ₹10,499, including applicable offers and discounts.

HMD Vibe2 5G Wine Red: What Has Changed?

The biggest change is actually the colour.

HMD has introduced Wine Red as the fourth colour option for the Vibe2 5G. The smartphone was previously available in Nordic Blue, Cosmic Lavender and Peach Pink. The company has not changed the specifications of the phone with the new colour variant.

That means buyers get the same hardware, but with a new finish that could appeal to shoppers looking for something different during the festive season.

HMD Vibe2 5G Price in India

The HMD Vibe2 5G is available in multiple memory configurations.

*The ₹10,499 figure is the advertised effective price for the Wine Red variant during the Flipkart Big Billion Days sale and includes applicable offers/discounts. Buyers should check the final price and eligibility for bank or other promotional offers at checkout.

For buyers specifically looking for a 5G phone around the ₹10,000–₹12,000 range, this pricing makes the new colour variant particularly interesting.

6000mAh Battery Is One of Its Biggest Highlights

Battery life is one area where the HMD Vibe2 5G focuses heavily.

The phone packs a 6000mAh battery, which is considerably larger than what many entry-level smartphones offer. HMD says the battery is optimized with Android 16 to provide extended usage. The official specifications list 18W charging over USB Type-C.

For users who spend a lot of time watching videos, browsing social media, using WhatsApp or making calls, the large battery could be useful.

However, buyers should note that this is 18W charging, so it is not aimed at users looking for very fast charging speeds.

120Hz Display on a Budget Phone

Another interesting feature is the phone’s 120Hz display refresh rate.

The HMD Vibe2 5G comes with a 6.75-inch HD+ IPS display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The higher refresh rate can make scrolling through apps, websites and social media feeds appear smoother compared with traditional 60Hz panels.

The trade-off is resolution: the display has a 720 × 1600 pixel resolution rather than Full HD+.

So, if your priority is smoother scrolling and a large screen, the display has an appealing specification. If you watch a lot of high-resolution content, the HD+ resolution is something to keep in mind.

50MP Camera for Everyday Photography

Photography is handled by a 50MP AI dual rear camera, while selfies are handled by an 8MP front camera.

HMD’s official specifications confirm the 50MP primary rear camera and 8MP selfie camera.

The camera setup is positioned more toward everyday photography rather than serious mobile photography. Users can expect the usual use cases such as social media photos, family pictures, documents and outdoor shots.

Android 16 and 5G Connectivity

The HMD Vibe2 5G runs Android 16 and supports 5G connectivity.

HMD also lists two years of quarterly security updates for the device.

The phone is powered by the Unisoc T8200 processor and comes with 4GB or 6GB RAM options, depending on the configuration. Storage is listed at 128GB on the current configurations, with microSD support of up to 1TB according to HMD’s specifications.

Why the Wine Red Variant Could Get Attention During the Festive Season

The timing of the new colour is notable.

Rather than introducing a completely new phone, HMD has refreshed the Vibe2 5G with a Wine Red finish ahead of the festive shopping period. The combination of a new colour and promotional pricing gives the existing model a fresh appeal.

For someone looking for a relatively affordable smartphone with 5G, a large 6000mAh battery, 120Hz refresh rate and Android 16, the Vibe2 5G offers a combination of specifications that deserves a look.

At the same time, buyers should not focus only on the headline price. The final amount can depend on the applicable bank offers, sale benefits and eligibility conditions.

HMD Vibe2 5G vs HMD Vibe2 Pro 5G: Don’t Confuse Them

HMD has also recently launched the Vibe2 Pro 5G, which is a more advanced model in the same family.

The Vibe2 Pro 5G brings a 6.78-inch FHD+ 120Hz display, MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, 64MP Sony IMX682 primary camera, 13MP selfie camera and 6000mAh battery with 33W charging. Its regular price starts at ₹15,999, although a limited launch offer has been reported at ₹14,999.

So, the Vibe2 5G Wine Red is aimed at buyers looking around the lower budget segment, while the Vibe2 Pro 5G sits at a higher price point with upgraded hardware.

Should You Consider the HMD Vibe2 5G This Festive Season?

If your budget is around ₹10,000–₹12,000 and you want a 5G phone with a large battery, Android 16 and a high-refresh-rate display, the HMD Vibe2 5G Wine Red edition is one phone worth putting on your festive-season shortlist.

Its biggest attractions are the 6000mAh battery, 120Hz display, 5G connectivity and relatively affordable festive pricing.

However, the HD+ screen, 18W charging and entry-level processor are important factors to consider before buying.

The new Wine Red colour may be the visual highlight, but the more important story is that HMD is bringing the existing Vibe2 5G into the festive shopping season with an advertised effective price of ₹10,499.
